The history of Jingdezhen is closely linked with ceramic making. The kiln fire burning incessantly over thousands of years imparts a peculiar charm to the culture of the city.
Known as the "Porcelain Capital of the World", Jingdezhen boasts a long ceramic-making history of over 2,000 years. Endowed with "mountains on three sides and river on one side," the city is simple, natural, full of cultural and artistic charm. Today, Jingdezhen is embarking on a new journey towards the future, sharing fascinating stories of CHINA once again with the world.
Xiong Feng
A Chinse Calligrapher based in Japan
Traveled overseas for cultural and artistic exchanges in 1990s
Cultural Ambassador of Jiangxi Province
Xiong Feng wandered overseas for more than 20 years. But he had always cared about the development of his hometown Jingdezhen. He is very proud of the city's picturesque scenery, idyllic lifestyle, rich cultural heritage, long history, and reputation as the "origin of porcelain". With the inauguration of East Asian Cultural Exchange Center – XiongFeng Chinese Characters Connection Museum (the "Connection Museum") in 2021, Xiong Feng has leveraged his talent to promote the cultural development of Jingdezhen, strengthened the connection between his hometown and the world, and brought it onto the international stage.
The Connection Museum mainly consists of five spaces: Whole Family Hall, Show Hall, Open the Hall, Connecting Hall, and Friendship Hall. These spaces are named after some of the best-known calligraphic works of Xiong Feng in different periods. They express the wish to use Chinese characters as a bond for continual cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
CAMERICH furniture is seamlessly blended into every space, offering a perfect interpretation of every work, object, and view in the space with its unique style and quality.
The Whole Family Hall is named after Xiong Feng's calligraphy works themed "Whole Family" in many places around the world. It symbolizes a harmonious global village in which people trust and love each another like family members.
One side of the space is used for guest reception. The EPIC sofa with black leather instills modernity, chic, freedom, comfort, and premium quality into the space. The other side is used as dining area, where the orderly arrangement of the FLORA chairs creates an inviting atmosphere. The brownish-red background wall is a perfect finishing touch that dimishes the oppression and monotony of the dark space.
This space is named "Show" to extol the breathtaking landscapes of Jiangxi province, and showcase the glamor of Chinese culture and art.
The CASA sofas, designed with a lower statue, bring a more spacious experience. The special-shaped modules and easy portability enable CASA sofas well blended into the space. The comfortable and glossy leather texture also adds a touch of warmth and mildness to the hall, endowing visitors with a contemplative power and a calm mind.
"Open the Hall" is a library where visitors could open the books and take a glimpse of the diversity of the world.
This space features concise and dignified lines, simple and orderly sections, and the complementary, classic color palate of black and white. The white BLOOM sofa enriches the visual aesthetics and injects a tranquil and relaxing rhythm into the space.
The shape of the Connecting Hall is reminiscent of two hands holding together as well as a Tai Chi symbol. It stands for the beautiful, friendly, and infinite connection between human and nature, people and people, human and society, China and the world, past and future.
Designed as an international standard table tennis court, this hall aims to promote friendship and peace around the world through sports and a review of major historical events of Ping-Pong diplomacy.
Light flows and permeates the space in its own unique, orderly manner. The EMBRACE chairs, with a plump, amiable shape, add a touch of warmth and coziness to this friendly and peaceful space.
The Connection Museum teams up with CAMERICH to create such an aesthetically appealing space for discovering, creating and spreading beauty while sharing with the world the stories of Jingdezhen, Jiangxi, and China at large.
